When you buy dried Amanita muscaria, you will usually see it sold in grades. The grade says nothing about the species or the origin — those are the same — but a lot about how the caps look. Here is how we sort our wild Baltic fly agaric.
Premium+ — unopened caps
Young caps picked before they open, while they are still round and closed. They are compact, even in size and keep a deep red colour. This is the most selective grade and the one collectors usually choose for display. See Premium+ caps.
Grade A — whole caps
Mature, open caps that dried whole, straight and unbroken. They show the classic flat red cap with white spots. See Grade A caps.
Grade B — broken caps and pieces
The same material, but caps that broke during drying, sorting or transport, plus large pieces. Grade B is the best value and the only grade we offer in bulk — up to 5 kg. See Grade B caps.
Powder and capsules
Ground fly agaric is sold as powder or in 0.4 g capsules. These formats are about storage and presentation; the raw material is the same dried caps.
Which grade should you choose?
- For display and the best appearance — Premium+.
- For classic whole caps at a mid price — Grade A.
- For the lowest price per gram or large quantities — Grade B.
Storage
Keep dried caps in a sealed bag or jar, in a cool, dry and dark place. Moisture is what spoils dried mushrooms.
Amanita muscaria is poisonous. Our products are sold as botanical collectibles for display and study only and are not intended for consumption.
